Vishwanath Aundhakar, founder of VishNature's journey began in the bustling city of Bangalore, where he worked as a Swiggy delivery boy while harbouring dreams of starting his own hotel. However, when the pandemic struck, he found himself compelled to return to his hometown in Kampli, Karnataka. The stringent lockdown confined him to his house and a nearby banana plantation farm.
Amidst the challenges of the lockdown, 27 year old Vishwanath, along with a few friends, spent most of his time in the banana plantation farm. It was during one of these leisurely moments that he pondered over the potential uses of banana plant barks. Researching on YouTube, he stumbled upon videos and documentaries that inspired him to convert the fibres into ropes. Drawing upon his childhood knowledge of making threads from fibres, Vishwanath saw an opportunity to explore the untapped potential of banana plant barks.
As he delved into rope-making, he also learned the art of macramé - a knotting technique. Guided by online tutorials, Vishwanath began crafting small products like keychains and rakhis from the banana ropes. Leveraging the existing knowledge of crochet, macrame, and basket weaving among the women in his village, Vishwanath started experimenting with these techniques.
The seeds of his creativity sprouted into Vishnature, a venture that presently employs around 30 women. While eight of them work on a regular basis, the rest contribute from the comfort of their homes during leisure hours. Over time, Vishwanath expanded his product range and explored various natural fibres.
His vision for Vishnature is to transform it into a completely eco-friendly brand, committed to working with diverse natural fibres.
